Jordan Montgomery is heading to St. Louis after Tuesday’s surprising deal by the Yankees just before the trade deadline, sending the lefty starter out of New York for the first time since he was drafted by the Bombers in 2014.
On Wednesday, Montgomery took to Instagram to thank the city of New York for six memorable big-league seasons.
“New York, I want to say thank you for letting me live out my dream for the past six seasons as a New York Yankee,” Montgomery wrote as a caption below a photo of him and his fiancé on the field at Yankee Stadium. “McKenzie and I will never forget the people and memories we have met and made along the way. On that note, God is good! We are excited to join the St. Louis Cardinals and are thankful for the new adventure ahead.”
Montgomery was traded to St. Louis for injured center fielder Harrison Bader.
