Jose Trevino has a flair for the dramatic, especially when there are family ties involved.

Earlier this season, he laced a walk-off single on his late father’s birthday, honoring a dad who used to play baseball with Trevino in the backyard and pretend he was batting in Yankee Stadium with the winning run on base.

Earlier in his career, Trevino walked it off on Father’s Day shortly after becoming a father to his son, and nearly four years later, he gave his son another birthday gift, delivering a walk-off single in the 13th inning on his son Josiah’s fourth birthday to give the Yankees another win.

“I don’t know, I don’t know what everybody believes in, but I know what I believe in, and I believe I get a little bit of extra help every time that happens,” Trevino said.

Fortunately, Josiah stayed up late and was able to talk to his dad after he was once again the hero for the Yanks.

“He FaceTimed me,” Trevino said. “He was kind of yelling at me asking if I had won the game. It was for his birthday. He wanted the Yankees to win on his birthday.”
