Suzyn Waldman told John Sterling during Saturday’s broadcast that Josh Donaldson replied, “of course,” when she asked the third baseman if he was going deep on Saturday to celebrate the birth of his daughter.
Donaldson certainly thought he had fulfilled that declaration in his first at-bat of the game, but made sure he did it for real his next time up.
After getting plenty of heat on social media for bat flipping what would be a long single off the top of the right field wall in the first inning, Donaldson smashed a solo shot in nearly the same part of the park an inning later, homering in his first game and second plate appearance since being activated from the paternity list.

It was quite a run of two at-bats for Donaldson, whose family and home run tally each grew by one in the last couple days.
