Former Yankee legend Bernie Williams dropped by to see Boomer and Gio on Monday, promoting his new wine-making excursion, as the four-time World Series champion has crafted and blended a new wine with Millbrook Vineyards and Winery.

But Boomer and Gio took the chance to revisit a debate with a caller last week who said the Mets don’t win because they have too many “wine and cheese guys.” with the help of Bernie, they were able to debunk that theory considering the Yankees teams of the late 90s were full of those types.

So, Boomer and Gio went through some notable names on the roster, and Bernie gave the verdict on whether they were a “wine and cheese guy” or not.

Derek Jeter: “I believe so. At least wine. Definitely a wine guy.”

Scott Brosius: “I think earlier in his career, he probably was a beer guy. But nowadays, he’s a wine guy.”

Paul O’Neill: “I think he is. He might be a closet wine and cheese guy.”

David Wells: “He started as a wine guy, but he’s definitely a beer guy.”

Jorge Posada: “He’s a wine and cheese guy.”

Mariano Rivera: “Definitely a wine guy.”

That was all Gio needed to hear.

“See how many of the great Yankees are wine and cheese guys?” Gio said. “This is why that caller about the Mets was wrong. Wine and cheese guys make champions, man.”
