BT rips Yankees effort in loss to Mets: 'Morphing back into that team we hate'

Brandon Tierney pulled no punches when talking about the Yankees’ performance in Tuesday night’s loss to the Mets.

“The Yankees played like a-- last night,” BT said to open Wednesday’s show. “They were awful. You name it, they butchered it.”

The Yanks struggled behind an inefficient Jordan Montgomery, who didn’t get help on the defensive end thanks to an errant Josh Donaldson throw from third base that hit off of Francisco Lindor in the base line and bounced into right field, allowing a run to score. Earlier in the game, the Yanks had runners at the corners with one out and the go-ahead run on base, but Isiah Kiner-Falefa was picked off to spoil a promising rally.

What’s more concerning for both Tiki and Tierney is the fact that two of the three Yankee runs came via solo shots, both in the first inning. Like the 2021 team, BT says the Bombers are too reliant on those bombs once again, and he doesn’t like the trajectory that the team is currently on after a historic start to the season.

“This isn’t about getting on the air saying that Yankees played poorly and that’s why the Mets won, BT said. “But the Yankees right now are morphing back into that team that we hate, and that’s the team that is overly reliant on the home run. It’s happening.”
