Miguel Andujar has been named by many as a deserving substitute for Joey Gallo in the Yankee outfield despite his own middling stats at the big-league level this season, but he certainly smashed a big-league worthy home run with Scranton on Wednesday night.
The former Rookie of the Year candidate unloaded on a first-pitch fastball and crushed a no-doubter to left field that left the broadcasters in awe of the distance, saying they have only seen Gary Sanchez and Kyle Higashioka hit a ball that far at PNC Field while on rehab assignments.
Andujar has a .555 OPS in 49 at-bats in the majors this season, and has reportedly asked Aaron Boone for a trade after he was sent down for the third time this season. His 0.2 WAR is just 0.1 lower than Gallo's, who has been with the big-league club all season.
