Yankees No Longer the Favorites to Win the AL Pennant on One Betting Site

For the first time this season, the Yankees are not the favorites to win the AL pennant.

As of Tuesday's latest update on betting site Betonline.ag, the Yankees are now an 8/1 favorite to win the World Series and a 15/4 favorite to win the AL pennant – the latter just behind Tampa Bay, who now have 7/2 odds of reaching the Fall Classic.

The Yankees are third in line for the World Series title, behind the 5/2 Dodgers and 7/1 Rays, but in the midst of a tailspin that leaves them with a 21-20 record and a tenuous hold on the eighth and final AL playoff spot, they have to get there first – easier said than done according to FanGraphs, who gives the Yankees an 89 percent chance to play in October, but only a 4.8 percent chance to win it all.

If you're wondering where the Mets fall in all this, well, the answer is "the middle of the pack." As of Tuesday, their 60/1 title odds are tied with Cincinnati and Colorado for 15th and their 25/1 NL pennant odds are tied with Milwaukee for seventh on Betonline.ag, while Fangraphs' projections have them at 41.3 percent to make the postseason (ninth in the NL) and 3.5 percent to win it all.

The one thing that can maybe make both fan bases smile? The Red Sox, at 1000/1 on both the World Series and AL Pennant odds, are tied for dead last as the biggest longshots in both categories.
