Another day, another dose of bad injury news for the painfully depleted Yankees.
Carlos Rodon, who still hasn’t pitched for the Yanks this season, still won’t be for a while, as Aaron Boone told reporters that the team’s $162 million lefty is still feeling stiffness in his back, stalling his recovery.
Rodon threw off a mound recently, but “still isn’t feeling right” after Boone had reported Rodon was slowly recovering following a 22-pitch bullpen session last week. Rodon reported back stiffness while recovering from a forearm muscle strain that has sidelined him since his first spring training outing.
Rodon was aiming for a June return, but now, with doctors not able to figure out what is causing the issue, it will likely be even longer.
In another injury blow, Lou Trivino will undergo Tommy John surgery, taking him out of the entire 2023 season, and leaving the Yankees without another key bullpen arm for the rest of the year, while Tommy Kahnle and Jonathan Loaisiga are each still facing long roads back to action.
