Yankees Notes: Luis Severino to return 'pretty soon' after throwing sim game

Luis Severino told reporters that he feels game-ready after throwing a simulated game at Yankee Stadium on Friday.

Severino, via NJ.com, said he isn’t sure what his next step will be as he works his way back from Tommy John surgery and multiple setbacks, but Aaron Boone later told reporters that Severino could be back “pretty soon” in a bullpen role.

“I could envision him being with us pretty soon If everything goes well,” Boone said.

Severino reached 96 mph in his simulated game, which lasted two innings, and did allow a home run off Rougned Odor, but both he and the Yankees were encouraged by how he looked and felt on the mound.

Per the YES Network, Jonathan Loaisiga and Jameson Taillon both threw off flat ground, as they are further out from a return.
