Oswaldo Cabrera’s big-league debut certainly wasn’t short on excitement.
Starting at third base just after being called up from Triple-A Scranton, Cabrera went 0-for-4 on the night with a pair of strikeouts, but watched the Yanks erase a three-run deficit in the bottom of the 10th with one swing, courtesy of a walk-off grand slam by Josh Donaldson.
“I didn’t get my base hit,” a smiling Cabrera said after the game. “But at the end of the day, we won.
“I’m so excited to be here...that was amazing. It was incredible. I just feel like I’m living the dream.”
Cabrera was swinging a hot bat in the minors before his call-up, and didn’t seem discouraged by his hitless night in his major league introduction. He’s confident there will be more opportunities.
“I just tried to battle,” Cabrera said. “I probably put pressure on the second at-bat or the third at-bat, just battled every time.”
