The Yankees are set to begin what they hope will be a prolonged playoff run, and Brandon Tierney says Yankee fans better enjoy it, because things could look a lot different next year, and that their window may be closing.
“Do not take this week for granted…not to be a Debbie Downer, but it is my mission to impress upon you in which the urgency that the Yankees need to attack tonight.” BT said.
“There’s no guarantee that Judge is back this season…from the Yankees, the residue of an early ouster can radically change what they look like a year from now. Rizzo can opt out, a bunch of other players can opt out…this is an interesting pivot point in Yankee history. You can’t say with unwavering faith that you believe that Hal Steinbrenner will do whatever it takes to retain Judge. God forbid Judge did bounce, you can’t call in and convince me that he’ll spend $250 million elsewhere to make it right.”
The Mets just say their 101-win season end in three games, and if the Yankees go a similar route, they will also face plenty of roster unknowns particularly whether their record-setting superstar will be back in 2023. So, the time to capitalize and win a ring is now, because there is no telling when the next chance will be.
“Whether it’s a week or whether it’s a month, this Yankee run that we’re about to watch and latch on to, there is all the pressure in the world,” BT said. “If Aaron Judge leaves, the team is horrendous next season. Who is the closer? You’ve got Donaldson making $25 million doing nothing playing third base.”
