Yankees-Red Sox postponed Wednesday due to rain, to be made up in split doubleheader Thursday

After a delay of nearly two hours following scheduled first pitch, MLB announced that Wednesday night’s Yankees-Red Sox game at Fenway Park has been postponed, and will be made up as Game 1 of a split doubleheader on Thursday.

This is the second time this series this has happened, as Monday’s game was also rained out and became Game 1 of a split doubleheader, which the Yankees swept, on Tuesday.

Game 1 first pitch is 1:35 p.m., so we will have coverage on WFAN starting at 12:55 p.m. Game 2 coverage will start at 6:35 p.m. as previously scheduled.

Per Aaron Boone's press conference following the rainout, Mike King, Thursday’s original starter, will start Game 1, while Clarke Schmidt, who was scheduled to pitch Wednesday night, will instead get Thursday’s nightcap.

The Yankees will then need a spot starter Friday in Pittsburgh, before Gerrit Cole and Carlos Rodon are on turn for Saturday and Sunday, and Monday’s off-day puts the rest of the rotation on regular or extra rest for next week.
