Baseball's fiercest rivalry will be in primetime throughout next week.
NBC announced Sunday morning that the entire Wild Card Series between the Yankees and Red Sox will have start times of 8:00 p.m., as the rematch of last year's postseason series will get the premiere time slot for all three games, if necessary.
Games one and two will be played on Tuesday and Wednesday night, respectively, and game three on Thursday, if necessary. All three games will air on NBC and streamed on Peacock.
Aaron Boone told reporters on Sunday that the team has decided on their starting pitchers for games one and two, and notified those pitchers. Boone did not reveal the decision, but hours later, the team posted that expected Cy Young award winner Cam Schlittler will take the ball in Tuesday's game one, while Max Fried will pitch game two. If a game three is necessary, Gerrit Cole will toe the slab in a do-or-die game.
The Yankees won last year's battle in a decisive third game. This marks the first time the Yanks and Sox will face off in consecutive postseasons since their epic ALCS battles in 2003 and 2004.
