Yankees reportedly make major deadline splash, acquire Camilo Doval from Giants

The Yankees swooped in at the trade deadline buzzer to make another massive bullpen addition, completely revamping their relief group in a matter of hours.

According to Jack Curry of the YES Network, the Yanks have acquired Giants closer Camilo Doval, who joins David Bednar and Jake Bird as the team’s reliever additions on Thursday. Doval, a 2023 All-Star, gives Aaron Boone another late inning option alongside Bednar, Devin Williams, and Luke Weaver.

The 28-year-old is pitching to a 3.09 ERA in 47 appearances this season, logging 15 saves in the process. The righty is striking out 9.6 batters per nine innings while posting a 3.18 FIP.

Doval holds a 3.29 ERA across his five-year career, all with San Francisco. He led the league in saves with 39 in 2023.

Curry added the return going back to the Giants included Jesus Rodriguez, Parks Harbor, Trystan Vrieling, and Carlos De La Rosa.

Doval is not a free agent until 2028, as the Yanks grab another big-name reliever under team control in 2026, a big plus given Williams and Weaver are pending free agents.
