Yankees reportedly now leading candidate to sign Marcus Stroman

The Yankees have emerged as the top candidate to sign Marcus Stroman, according to MLB Network’s Jon Morosi.

Per Morosi, the two sides have had “productive discussions” in recent days, after earlier reports that there was mutual interest.

The 32-year-old Stroman is a native of Medford, New York, and has experience pitching in the Big Apple thanks to his time with the Mets from the 2019 and 2021 campaigns. He also has pitched in the AL East as part of six seasons with the Blue Jays.

Stroman was an All-Star in 2023, though he faded a bit in the second half of the season. He finished with a 3.95 ERA in 25 starts, and holds a 3.65 ERA for his career, totalling nine seasons.

The Yankees are still in need of starting pitching after losing out on Yoshinobu Yamamoto, while another potential target in Frankie Montas signed with the Reds.
