The Yankees have bumped up one of their top prospects, who has been raking in Double-A.
As confirmed by the media relations teams of the respective affiliates, New York is sending Spencer Jones to Triple-A Scranton, bringing the 24-year-old one step closer to the big leagues. Jones had spent time with Double-A Somerset in each of the past three seasons.
Jones played a full season at Double-A last year and hit .259 with 17 home runs in 124 games. He already logged 16 homers in 49 games this season, batting .274 with a .984 OPS. Strikeouts continue to be a bit of an issue but has improved, as he whiffed 200 times in 2024 and has 70 strikeouts so far this season.
The big 6-foot-7 outfielder had a solid spring training with the Yanks this year, batting .250 with a .927 OPS and three home runs in 32 at-bats. He was even better in spring training last year, batting .444 with a home run in 18 at-bats.
