Boomer is declaring a must-win Thursday for the Yankees as they wrap up their series with the Twins, and here’s why.
Once this series wraps up in Minnesota, the Yanks will have a brief cakewalk in the form of the lowly Cubs at home, but after that, things get very interesting.
“The metal meets the meat,” Boomer said during Thursday’s show.
“They gotta win this game. It’s a must-win Thursday for them…they play the horrendous Chicago Cubs, and after that, it gets interesting…Tampa, Toronto, Tampa, and then Houston. That is Murderer’s Row right there.”
The Yanks currently hold a comfortable seven game lead against both the Rays and Blue Jays, but ground can be made up quickly within the division thanks to head-to-head matchups, and the Bombers will have plenty of those with their biggest AL East competitors in the coming weeks.
“It’s gonna be a stretch for them,” Boomer said. “This is an opportunity to go head-to-head against teams in your division, and another top team in Houston.
“Teams like Tampa and Toronto have been hanging around. These are the moments where seasons turn one way or the other. I would think the Yankees will be OK as long as they don’t have any big injuries.”
