The Yankees have reportedly avoided arbitration with Isiah Kiner-Falefa, agreeing to a one-year, $6 million contract according to multiple reports.
Kiner-Falefa, a polarizing figure among Yankees Universe in 2022, struggled at the plate for nearly all of last season, posting a .642 OPS with four home runs. His defense at shortstop also declined down the stretch of the regular season, leading to Oswald Peraza and Oswaldo Cabrera seeing time at the position during the postseason, with Kiner-Falefa being subjected to the bench.
Still, Brian Cashman and Aaron Boone both supported Kiner-Falefa at their press conferences after the season, standing behind their belief that he is among the best defensive shortstops in the game.
