The Yankees reportedly signed a familiar face ahead of Friday's home opener.
According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, the Yanks have signed Rougned Odor to a minor-league deal, a contract with an opt-out after July 1. The veteran infielder signed a deal with the Yomiuri Giants earlier this year, but was recently released.
Odor was signed by the Yanks just before Opening Day in 2021, but hit just .202 in pinstripes, unable to recapture what made him a steady 30-homer hitter during his peak with the Rangers.
The Yankees could use Odor for depth on the infield given injuries to DJ LeMahieu and Oswald Peraza, or he could be a minor-league rental that is gone by summer if he isn't added to the big-league roster by July.
