Yankees to stream 21 games this season exclusively on Amazon Prime Video: Report

The Yankees will reportedly carry more games exclusively through streaming services in 2022, as Andrew Marchand of the New York Post says 21 regular season games will be streamed exclusively on Amazon Prime.

The Yanks were on Prime last season, but not in an exclusive manner like it will reportedly be this season. In 2021, the games streamed via Amazon were still available on the YES Network, but that won’t be the case in 2022.

The games will mainly be on Friday nights, which is when Apple TV+ has its MLB games streaming on a weekly basis for its Friday Night Baseball package. The Yanks have two games involved in Apple through the first 12 weeks of the season, though a subscription is not required for those games, just access to the app.

The first game on Amazon, according to Marchand, will be on Friday, April 22, when the Yankees host Cleveland.

These games will only be available to stream within the Yankees’ local tri-state area, and will make up games that used to be seen on Pix 11 on Fridays. The YES Network announcing crews will be calling the games.

Amazon took an ownership stake in YES back in 2019, leading to Thursday’s news.
