The Yankees have announced a partnership with Starr Insurance, becoming the team’s “signature partner” in an agreement that includes the first-ever sponsorship patches on the Yankees’ iconic uniforms.
In a move that seemed inevitable given the landscape of advertising in sports, the Yanks will have Starr Insurance patches on their uniform sleeves starting on July 21, and the team unveiled what they will look like via photos on social media Wednesday morning.
There will also be Starr Insurance signage added to the outfield wall and behind the bleachers at Yankee Stadium.
Starr Insurance is a “preeminent global insurance and investment organization,” and also has one of the largest philanthropic organizations in the nation in The Starr Foundation, chaired by Starr Insurance Chairman and CEO Maurice R. Greenberg.
The Yankees join other MLB teams like the Mets, who recently began wearing sponsorship patches on their uniforms this season as part of their partnership with New York Presbyterian.
