C-Mac: Yankees will sign Juan Soto, but he will take it to free agency
Juan Soto had Yankees Universe stirring this week after reiterating that he would be open to talking about a potential extension with the Yankees before free agency, and that Brian Cashman and the team knows where to find his agent, Scott Boras.
C-Mac doesn’t buy Soto signing an extension when he is so close to hitting the open market, but he still believes the superstar signs a long-term deal with the Bombers.
“He’s going to free agency, but that doesn’t matter,” C-Mac said. “You don’t get this close and don’t attempt it…and as great as he’s been and the start he’s had, right now, I don’t think the Yankees, right now, are in the mode for offering a crazy contract. They should be, but I don’t see it…Brian Cashman and the Yankees know exactly where Juan Soto and Scott Boras stand on the subject.
“He is going to get a massive deal. Massive. Scott Boras wants that to be a major story…he’s going to free agency, he’s going to get paid, and it will be by the New York Yankees.”
