Boomer: Yankees showing 'malaise,' but still need to win World Series

The Yankees barely got by the Royals on Thursday, and haven’t been looking like the best team in baseball with a mediocre month of July, but Boomer says the Bombers better still win it all this year, or at least get to the Fall Classic.

“I’m gonna keep harping on this,” Boomer said during Friday’s show. “They have to get to the World Series this year. They have to. You have to put all your chips in the middle, and I know you don’t want to devoid your minor league system of players, but at the end of the day, it’s about the big team going and winning the World Series, and they haven’t done that since 2009.”

Boomer still thinks the Yanks need to go out and get Juan Soto, but Brian Cashman has made some sparkling trades in the past, but some of them need to start leading to rings as the team’s title drought nears 15 years.

But that won’t happen if they continue to look like they did on Thursday before Aaron Judge bailed the team out.

“I’ve lauded him because in baseball it’s hard to keep your team competitive every single year, and he’s done that,” Boomer said. “Unfortunately, they’ve ended in the playoffs, and now, there’s expectations…that they’re gonna go and win the World Series.

“I just don’t want to see the malaise I saw last night from the Yankees.”
