BT is more than confident that the Yankees will sell Juan Soto on the Bronx, and eventually sign him to a long-term deal after a contract year in pinstripes.
Sal believes Soto will wind up with the Mets, and BT laid out the worst-case scenario for the Yankees that could end with Soto in Queens.
The List includes: the Mets sneak into the third Wild Card, while playing a fun brand of baseball. Meanwhile, the Yankees struggle, and Carlos Rodon doesn’t bounce back. Soto has a good year, not a great year, and even hears some boos in the Bronx.
For BT, that would plant the seeds for a nightmare scenario for the Yankees, though one he doesn’t envision.
“Each month he takes a look over in Queens and says ‘Wow, those guys are playing a little better than I thought they would,’” BT said. “Then Cohen comes with $100 million more than the Yankees.
“I’ll grant you that there is a possibility that occurs on both sides…but right now, I actually feel sorry for you [Mets fans].”
