The New York Yankees have acquired LHP Wandy Peralta and a player to be named later from the San Francisco Giants in exchange for outfielder Mike Tauchman.

To fill the open roster spot in the interim, the Yankees have recalled infielder Tyler Wade from the Alternate Site.

Peralta, 29, has a 5.40 ERA in 8 1/3 innings over 10 appearances for the Giants this season. He made his major-league debut in 2016 with Cincinnati, and over six seasons with the Reds and Giants, he has a 4.72 ERA in 192 2/3 innings over 220 career outings.

Tauchman, 30, is 3-for-14 in 11 games with the Yankees this season. Acquired from Colorado prior to the 2019 season, Tauchman is a career .250 hitter with 13 home runs and 63 RBI in 193 games.

Peralta’s acquisition will cost the Yankees a few hundred thousand dollars – he is making $925K this season to Tauchman’s $624,500 – but he does have one minor-league option remaining, and has two more seasons of team control beyond 2021. Tauchman has three more years of team control at least beyond 2021, as this was set to be his final pre-arbitration year.
