Aaron Judge had to sit out Sunday’s series finale against the Dodgers after hurting his toe while making his unreal running catch while crashing through the outfield fence on Saturday.
Still, Sal was feeling the awe of Judge’s impact by the time he was back on the air early Monday morning.
“He is a freaking beast,” Sal said. “I don’t care what Shohei Ohtani or Mike Trout does. Here’s what I know…I’m not knocking those guys, but here’s what I’ll say. You can’t be better than Aaron Judge is at playing baseball right now. There’s just no way.
“The impact he has had on his team offensively, defensively, leadership, all of the above.”
Unfortunately for the Yankees, Judge was heading for testing on his right big toe when the team returned to New York, as Judge could potentially be heading back to the IL not long after returning from his hip injury. But if that happens, Sal says this Yankees group can find a way to weather the storm.
“I got news for you. I think they can overcome it,” Sal said. “Not in the postseason or for a whole season, but I think this team can overcome it.”
