Zack Britton Tweets he is 'excited to start' the recovery process after elbow surgery

Yankees reliever Zack Britton had surgery Monday to remove a bone chip from his left elbow, and apparently it went well – because he has already Tweeted that he’s ready to get on the road to recovery.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said after Tuesday's game that he was texting with Britton right after the surgery, and all went "as expected."

"He feels great and it went as expected, I don't think there were any surprises in there," Boone said. "So now it just comes down to the incision being healed, and that will tell him when he can start the ramp-up process."

Boone still wouldn't put a timetable on it, but Britton is expected to miss 3-4 months due to the surgery, as he will reportedly be shut down for six weeks before being re-evaluated. A throwing program and ramp up will follow, with the best-case scenario seemingly mid-June for the top set-up man in the Yankees’ bullpen.
