C-Mac believes the Mets and Yankees both left something to be desired in the chase for Yoshinobu Yamamoto, but in the end, the prized free agent pitcher may just not have wanted to embrace the New York spotlight.
"He's gonna go hide in the shadows of [Shohei] Ohtani," C-Mac said. "I thought he wanted to be a star? He just signed with his buddy, who is so much more of a star than he is.
"Once the season starts and [Tyler] Glasnow is just as good as he is, and Ohtani is hitting bombs left and right and playing every day…you bet your ass Ohtani is the story on the Dodgers."
The Yankees and Mets should have offered more money for Yamamoto, C-Mac says, but in the end, it may not have got it done anyway.
"He didn't want to be a Yankee. He didn't want to come here," C-Mac said. "He wanted to hide in the shadows of Ohtani. Congratulations."
