Tonight is Nets opening night! Also tonight, after basketball, New York sports fans can flip over to the premiere of “Under the Grapefruit Tree: The CC Sabathia Story,” which premieres live at 9 p.m. on HBO and then streaming on HBO Max.
CC joined Boomer & Gio on Monday morning and Zach Gelb on Monday night to talk about the documentary, and in the past, we’ve also shared a trailer – but now, hours before the premiere, we have one more exclusive clip, where CC details how he would detox himself to pitch:
“Say I pitched on Monday; Monday night, Tuesday night, Wednesday night, I’m hammered, blackout drunk,” he says. “Thursday and Friday, I wouldn’t drink at all, but if I pitch Saturday…as soon as I’d come out of the game, I’d need a Crown and Sprite in my locker. I would literally start after the last pitch I threw.”
