The former NFL QB and former USC Trojan turned host of the Sean Salisbury Show in Houston on Sports Talk 790 AM joined Kyle Bailey today on the Clubhouse to discuss the biggest stories going on in both college football and the NFL.
The first thing Sean weighed in on was players opting out due to concerns of the coronavirus in college football and Sean told Kyle that he completely gets it whether you are a top prospect or wanting to keep a family member safe who is easily immune to catching the virus. Sean told Kyle the thing he doesn't get is some of these conferences saying they care about the safety of the players, but also want them to play spring football which would load up the schedule for these players for the 2021 calendar season while not getting paid.
Kyle also wanted to get Sean's opinion on new Panthers HC Matt Rhule and Sean told him:
"I think he's an NFL coach that understands the college game, so I think he's back where he belongs. He knows how to recruit and all that stuff which is proven, but I think he'll have that same effect on free agents, the players will love playing for him, but there's a toughness about him with accountability that he puts on his players. I believe he can have an impact, but the Panthers have to be patient with him and let him do his thing like at Temple and Baylor and he will turn the team around."
