PITTSFORD, N.Y. (WGR 550) - For the first time this training camp, the Buffalo Bills had to deal with some adverse weather elements.
What had been hot and humid through the first four practices turned to drizzle and rain Tuesday at St. John Fisher College, and that weather most likely contributed to several dropped balls by wide receivers throughout the day.
Those are just a couple observations from Tuesday's session, which was closed to the general public, but open to the media.
Here are some more notes:
- The defense used a very interesting pass-rush package at one point, which included only one defensive tackle - rookie Ed Oliver. Then ends Jerry Hughes and Trent Murphy, as well as linebackers Lorenzo Alexander, Matt Milano, and Tremaine Edmunds all lined up near the line of scrimmage with five defensive backs behind them.
- Practice got quite physical, especially for about a five-minute period with a couple big hits and then a fight. Safety Deane Marlowe was involved in both instances. First, he took a big shot from guard Jon Feliciano, who was blocking downfield, then he gave a shot to wideout Ray-Ray McCloud, which knocked the receivers' helmet off. Immediately, several offensive players ran out on the field when it happened, and McCloud then turned into the crowd and threw some punches. After players dispersed, McCloud went to the sidelines to be looked at by trainers. He was back on the field shortly after.
- Wide receiver David Sills had his first big moment of camp with a highlight-reel over-the-shoulder catch down the sideline. It was bobbled at first, but he showed nice concentration to eventually bring it in.
- Former University at Buffalo standout cornerback Cam Lewis got some second-team reps, opposite Kevin Johnson with E.J. Gaines in the slot.
- Running back LeSean McCoy had a nice day. He busted off a couple big runs in 11-on-11 drills. McCoy has always been known as a player who performs well in poor conditions due to his balance and vision.
- Former Bills defensive tackle Kyle Williams was at practice and was seen working with Oliver a few times early in practice. Video below:

— Sal Capaccio -- (@SalSports) July 30, 2019- Center Mitch Morse did not practice and was seen working off to the side with a trainer.
- With Morse out, Russell Bodine mostly played center, but Bodine also got some reps at guard during the "offense-only" session. The rest of the offensive line stayed intact from what it's been:
- LT - Dion Dawkins
- LG - Quinton Spain
- RG - Spencer Long
- RT - Cody Ford
