January 6, 2020 Of the 11 players signed to the reserve/future contracts, 10 of those players were on the practice squad, including players like wide receiver Nick Easley, cornerback Cam Lewis, wide receiver Ray-Ray McCloud III, quarterback Davis Webb and running back Christian Wade. The only player that was not brought back from the practice squad was offensive tackle Brandon Hitner.
Buffalo had an exemption on the practice squad this past season with Wade coming over in the NFL's International Player Pathway Program. Wade can be made exempt for the practice squad once again for the 2020 season, allowing the Bills to hold 11 players on the practice squad.
A reserve/future contract guarantees a player a roster spot to start the 2020 season, which will eventually expand to 90 players heading into OTAs and training camp.
The Bills currently have 52 players under contract for the upcoming season.
