The stadium in which the Buffalo Bills play their home games will no longer be called New Era Field.

A joint statement released by the team and company on Wednesday read:

“The Buffalo Bills and New Era Cap Company jointly announce that New Era has asked to be released from their Naming Rights and Sponsorship deals with the Bills.  The Bills and New Era are currently negotiating the details of this separation and the Bills are beginning the process of pursuing a new naming rights partner for the stadium.”

The two sides announced a naming rights deal back in August of 2016. It was reportedly a seven-year, $35 million agreement. Prior to that, the Orchard Park stadium, which opened in 1973, had been called Rich Stadium (from 1973-97) and Ralph Wilson Stadium (1998-2015).

New Era Cap is a Buffalo-based company, which specializes in making caps. Last week, it was announced that the company would be laying off a third of its workforce, including 117 employees in Buffalo.
