Hyde: 'It's a great time to be a Bills fan, a Bills player and to be in this community'

With one week left until the playoffs begin, the Buffalo Bills are locked into the fifth seed in the AFC playoff picture after a 24-17 loss to the New England Patriots this past Saturday at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts.

The Bills had a slim chance to clinch the AFC East division title this past week, needing to beat the Patriots and also getting a win over the New York Jets in Week 17, while also needing a New England loss to the Miami Dolphins in their regular season finale.

However, things went the Patriots' way as they went on to score 11 unanswered points, while getting offensive production against a stingy Bills defense, putting up 414 yards of total offense. And while the Bills offense did not turn the ball over like they did during their Week 4 matchup with New England in Orchard Park, the Patriots were able to limit the Buffalo to 17 points, and shut down any chance of a comeback late in the game.

Bills safety Micah Hyde joined Mike Schopp and the Bulldog for his weekly Buffalo Football Monday appearance on WGR to recap Saturday's loss to the Patriots, as well as give his thoughts on the Jets heading into the final game of the regular season.

They had a couple of huge drives, huge plays on us that we weren't able to stop. We felt like we could have given ourselves a better chance towards the end of the game."

Hyde on his approach to Sunday's matchup with the Jets:

"As of right now, I'm going out there to prepare and play the Jets. Personally, that's my mindset. We haven't really talked about our plan, as far as playing time and all that stuff yet. I think everybody is going into this week preparing to play their best football. It's an opportunity to go out there and play well. Obviously you want to have a lot of momentum heading into the playoffs. You don't want to just go in limping and getting by, so to get win No. 11 would be huge. Thinking personally, I would love to be playing well. I want to go out there and make some plays. Obviously confidence is big in this league, and I think that's the No. 1 motive to get into the playoffs."

Hyde on being a fan of the Bills right now:

"It's a great time to be a Bills fan, a Bills player and to be in this community. Everybody is excited. We're having fu
