Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres co-owner Kim Pegula has been named to Governor Andrew Cuomo’s 116-person New York Re-Opening Advisory Board.

She joins a commitee with several other prominent individuals involved in pro sports in the state, including fellow-Western New Yorker Jeremy Jacobs, who is the CEO of Delaware North and whose father owns the NHL’s Boston Bruins. Also a part of this group includes New York Knicks and New York Rangers owner James Dolan, and New York Yankees president Randy Levine. Jeff Wilpon, whose family owns the New York Mets, and New York Islanders owner Jon Ledecky are also on the committee.

The group is meant to be a collection of leaders of the diverse industries and businesses that have been economically impacted by the state’s shutdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

There are several other Western New York-area leaders on the Board, including Buffalo State College President Dr. Katherine Conway-Turner, President and CEO of the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo Clotilde Perez-Bode Dedecker, and Buffalo Urban League President and CEO Brenda McDuffie.

Two weeks ago, Pegula Sports and Entertainment issued temporary executive salary reductions, 21 layoffs and 104 furloughs due to the impact of the pandemic. The Sabres' season is still on hold after the NHL announced a pause on its season back on March 12. The Bills are currently holding the first phase of the team’s offseason conditioning program, but doing it all virtually and online.
