NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell made the official announcement during the first round of the draft on Thursday night. His announcement came just before the Raiders' second pick of the first round at the 19th overall selection.

Las Vegas was originally awarded the 2020 NFL Draft back in December of 2018. The event was set to be held at Caesars Palace with the "red carpet event" to take place in front of the Bellagio resort, where some of the top NFL prospects were going to be transported to a floating platform by boat in front of the Fountains of Bellagio.

However, all public events for the draft in Las Vegas were canceled on March 16 due to the outbreak of COVID-19.

The 2021 NFL Draft has already been announced to take place in Cleveland, Ohio, while the 2023 NFL Draft is set to be hosted in Kansas City, Missouri.
