The Buffalo Sabres dropped their third game in a row to end the 2018 calendar year, as they suffered a 3-1 loss to Robin Lehner and the New York Islanders at KeyBank Center on Monday night. Kyle Okposo potted the only Sabres goal, and it wasn't until the third period of play. On the injury front, Jack Eichel left the contest in the first period with an upper-body injury. He played only four shifts before exiting.

Let's go inside the locker room to hear from Tage Thompson, Okposo and Phil Housley following the loss:

Tage Thompson:

No puck luck: "We have some of those nights where pucks don't bounce our way. Tonight was one of those nights."

On the recent scoring struggles: "As a team, I think we're struggling a bit to find the back of the net. We just have to stick with and keep a positive mindset."

Kyle Okposo:

On his goal: "It was a great screen by Thompson. [Robin] Lehner couldn't see it. Just gotta keep shooting and good things will happen."

Lehner's play in net: "He played a really good game. Gotta tip your cap to him. I thought he did a good job, and he stole the game for them. He made one more save."

Phil Housley:

Update on Jack's status: "He sort of aggravated something in his upper body, and came off the ice. Just one of those things."

On Okposo's first goal in well over a month: "I thought he was involved all night in the offensive zone and finally got rewarded."

On Tage's growth: "I think he's been playing well the last five or six games. Finding more ways to break free and use his speed. Would like to see him hit the net a little bit more, still."
