
The Buffalo Sabres used a big second period to down the Detroit Red Wings 3-1 on Saturday at KeyBank Center.
Conor Sheary got the Sabres on the board first early in the second period off a giveaway in the neutral zone by Justin Abdelkader. Casey Mittelstadt added a power play goal to put Buffalo up by a pair halfway through the period. Shortly after Dylan Larkin converted a power play wraparound chance to cut the lead in half, Kyle Okposo scored on the power play with under a minute to go in the second period to mold the 3-1 scoreline.
Linus Ullmark was impressive in the win, tallying 28 saves on 29 shots that came his way.
Buffalo will be back in action on Sunday when the team hosts the Winnipeg Jets for a 3 p.m. faceoff.
