More trouble has come to the National Women's Hockey League as Pegula Sports and Entertainment is giving up control of the Buffalo Beauts and returning control of the team to the league. Both PSE and the NWHL have offered statements regarding the situation.
Statement from PSE:
— Buffalo Beauts (@BuffaloBeauts) May 8, 2019
Statement from the NWHL:
— NWHL (@NWHL) May 8, 2019The Beauts will go back to being run by the NWHL, along with the league's other four teams. Under PSE, the Beauts were the lone NWHL team to be run independently.
This news comes on the heels of over 200 women's hockey players planning to boycott any North American professional league, along with the sudden collapse of the Canadian Women's Hockey League earlier this year.
In a bold statement, more than 200 women - including Marie-Philip Poulin, Hilary Knight, Brianne Jenner & Kendall Coyne-Schofield - have banded together to call for an overhaul of women's professional hockey.More from @TSNBobMcKenzie: https://t.co/GeQdplqC6Z #TSNHockey pic.twitter.com/qBWwmEMFjo
