After being released by the Cleveland Browns earlier in the week, free agent linebacker Christian Kirksey is expected to meet with several teams before deciding his next home. On Friday, Kirksey is reportedly visiting with the Buffalo Bills.
Former #Browns LB Christian Kirksey’s free agent tour continues, as he’s visiting the #Bills today. He’s previously been at the #Raiders and #Packers, with others interested as well.

March 13, 2020 If Kirksey ultimately signs with the Bills, he would add some significant talent behind Tremaine Edumunds and Matt Milano, replacing Lorenzo Alexander, who has retired. Kirksey started all 32 games for the Browns between 2016 and 2017. However, he battled with injuries as of late, playing in just nine games in the last two seasons combined.
Replacing Alexander's role is not really replacing a starter. The Bills were in nickel formation more than almost everyone in the league last season. Lorenzo played in just 48% of defensive snaps, despite being listed as a starter, and many of those snaps occurred lined up on the defensive line.
If Kirksey is looking for just playing time, Buffalo may not be his best option. If he's looking for a prove it deal on a great defense to rebuild his value, the Bills are about as good as it gets.
