Zemgus Girgensons and Johan Larsson come back for their fourth contracts with the Sabres, despite some speculation that the team would move on from one or both players.

All seven players are arbitration eligible.

The most surprising player to be extended a qualifying offer is Remi Elie. After the Sabres claimed Elie on waivers from the Dallas Stars, he spent most of the season in Buffalo as a healthy scratch. Elie played just 16 games for the Sabres, and finished the year with the Rochester Americans.

Players not qualified include former Sabres draft picks Eric Cornel, Brycen Martin, and Sean Malone. Malone, however, has already signed a one-year AHL contract to stay in Rochester. He played one game for the Sabres in 2017.

Also not qualified was defenseman Jack Dougherty. He was acquired from the Nashville Predators last season in exchange for Nick Baptiste.
