Chiefs trade Tyreek Hill to Dolphins

Tyreek Hill's time with the Kansas City Chiefs has come to an end.

It was originally reported by NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport on Wednesday morning the Chiefs had given Hill's agent permission to seek a trade for the star wide receiver. ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter added to the speculation, saying multiple teams were approached about a potential Tyreek Hill trade, with the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins emerging as the two finalists in recent days.

It didn't take too long after for the Dolphins to come out on top of the sweepstakes for Hill, acquiring the three-time All-Pro wide receiver from Kansas City in exchange a first, second and fourth round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, as well as a fourth and sixth round pick in 2023.

In addition to the major acquisition, Schefter reports the Dolphins are set to give Hill a new four-year contract extension worth $120 million, including $72.2 million of guaranteed money.

Hill was getting set to play this season on the final year of the three-year, $54 million contract extension he signed with Kansas City in September of 2019.

At 28, the dynamic playmaker was in-line to receive a hefty pay raise, especially considering how now-Las Vegas Raiders' wide receiver Davante Adams, who turns 30 in December, just reset the market for that position with his five-year, $140 million extension.

Since being taken in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft, Hill's been one of the most dynamic players not just for the Chiefs, but across football. In 91 career games, he's caught 479 balls for 6,630 yards (13.8 yards per-reception) and scored 56 touchdowns.

In addition to being named to three All-Pro teams, Hill has made the Pro Bowl in each of his six seasons in the NFL.
