Cincinnati, Ohio (WGR 550) - The Buffalo Bills fell short of a victory in their Sunday night matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals, 24-18, falling to 5-4 on the 2023 season.
The Buffalo offense came out hot on their first drive, marching right down the field and scoring their first touchdown of the game. Little did anyone know it would be their last touchdown scored until the fourth quarter when time was dwindling away.
"We come out on the opening drive and had some success moving the ball. Obviously we hit a lull there and didn't score really until late in the fourth. We had our opportunities, we didn't score before [halftime], didn't get six on the first drive of the second half, and that's not complimentary football," said Bills quarterback Josh Allen following the loss. "You've got to double dip and get the points there and give yourself a chance."
Allen finished his performance on "Sunday Night Football" completing 26-of-38 pass attempts for 258 yards, one passing touchdown, one rushing touchdown and an interception thrown.
Despite the Bills now having lost more games than last season just nine games into the 2023 campaign, Allen feels the current group in the locker room will handle the adversity well in the remaining eight games of the year.
"We've got a lot of guys who are unselfish players, guys that will do anything they can to help this team win football games," Allen said. "This second half of the season, realistically, if you want to look at it in a real view, you need 10, maybe 11 wins to get to the playoff picture in the AFC. We have eight games left, and we have five wins. So the math there, it's not pretty. It's not going to be easy, but again, if there is a locker room that can handle this, it's this locker room."
