Jacksonville, Fla. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - For the first time since the 1992 AFC Championship Game, the Buffalo Bills have won a road postseason game. This time, at the hands of Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars, 27-24, on Sunday at EverBank Stadium.
The Bills knew Sunday's Wild Card matchup was going to be a challenge, especially facing a top-10 defensive pass rush and the No. 1 run defense in the NFL.
Bills quarterback Josh Allen was battered and bruised, to say the least, having needed to get further examined on more than one occasion on Sunday. Despite injuries to his head, hand, knee and foot, Allen returned each time, and led his team in crunch time when the group needed him most.
While Allen was fired up about the victory, he maintained a humble, composed attitude when asked about the importance of winning his first playoff game on the road.
"To me, it doesn't mean a whole lot. Means that we were good with our communication on offense. Defense made plays, obviously. Now we have a chance to go do it again," said Allen during his postgame press conference with the media.
While discussing the game-winning drive, that saw Allen punch it in himself from one-yard out, Allen was pleased with the composure on offense and no sense of panic from any member of that unit.
"We were relying on each other," Allen said. "Put in something this week, and we ran it there the last drive with [Brandin] Cooks running down to the post. I saw a look when we executed it. It felt good to know we had all three timeouts, we had enough time on the clock to run our offense where there was no panic, no rush."
