Allen, McDermott frustrated by loss to Dolphins

The Bills could not get much of anything going offensively in a 30-13 loss in Miami

Miami Gardens, Fla. (WGR Sports Radio550) - In a divisional matchup where the Buffalo Bills needed a win to keep pace with the New England Patriots in the AFC East standings, the Miami Dolphins had other plans.

Although he threw for 300-plus yards and had two passing touchdowns, Bills quarterback Josh Allen had two turnovers in a 30-13 loss at Hard Rock Stadium.

It wasn't just Allen that struggled on Sunday, as the entire offense looked lethargic for much of the contest. Buffalo was completely shut out in the first half, and the uphill climb back into the game proved to be too much in the second half.

Allen knows he needs to be better, and the offense has to find a way to get back on track after a deflating loss on the road.

"Anytime you turn it over three times, two while driving into the red zone, that's a recipe for disaster," said Allen on Sunday following the loss in South Florida. "Getting stopped on 3rd-and-2, where I could have done something different, didn't really set us up great. It comes down to execution, and we didn't execute."

The way the offense started the game also didn't help the Bills, as they struggled to find the tempo they wanted to play at throughout.

"I just feel like early on, we were beating ourselves. But I give credit to them for coming out, playing and being ready for us," Allen acknowledged.

Bills head coach Sean McDermott praised the Dolphins' play following the loss, but knew the way his team started affected how the entire group carried on the rest of the game.

"We were chasing the game. They were in control of the game for the first half, and then in the second half, we were still chasing, which is a hard way to play," said McDermott after the defeat.

While the offense did not play up to McDermott's expectation, he expresses how he feels that unit can get better moving forward.

"We've got a great quarterback, and you want to be able to move the ball two dimensionally," McDermott said. "We should be able to move the ball with Josh through the air. It can't just be one phase of your offense. It's got to be two working in concert"
