Pittsburgh, Pa. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - Following a Thursday night blunder in Houston against the Texans, the Buffalo Bills bounced back on Sunday with a huge 26-7 road victory against Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers at Acrisure Stadium.
While is wasn't pretty by any stretch of the imagination, the Bills offense - led by quarterback Josh Allen and running back James Cook - seemed to march down the field with ease in the second half after being stifled in the first half, only recording three points.
Allen was efficient in the second half, recording a passing touchdown to Keon Coleman in the third quarter, and an NFL record-setting 76th career rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter to essentially put the game away.
Allen heavily credited Cook for the Bills' offensive explosion in the second half, as well as giving the defense its proper praise with a scoop-and-score touchdown to start the third quarter.
"[Cook] is one of, if not the best back in football. The way he can just grab the ball and hit the hole as fast as he can. He's very rarely tackled by the first defender, so he makes our offense go," said Allen following the win with the media.
"I think we got into a rhythm there, that second half. Obviously, the fumble touchdown to start the second half off, it gave us a huge jolt of energy."
Allen also emphasized the importance of winning this game, as well as limiting crucial turnovers in order to continue their push in the AFC playoff picture, while sitting at 8-4 on the season.
"It's super important. Sitting at 8-4, understanding where we're at in our division and conference for that matter, we've got to continue to find ways to win football games," McDermott said. "We feel the four losses we've had, a big part of that has been turnovers and, again, just making sure we're better in that and understanding when we can protect the ball and move the ball and not hurt ourselves. We can be a really, really good team."
