Orchard Park, NY (WGR550) - There's been a lot of discussion this offseason surrounding the future of Keon Coleman on the Buffalo Bills roster in 2026, especially after owner Terry Pegula said at a press conference in January that Coleman was not the first choice of general manager Brandon Beane back in 2024, and that the coaching staff had pushed for the pick.
Since then, any time the question of Coleman’s future in Buffalo has been raised, Beane and head coach Joe Brady have consistently said how confident they are in him.
On Monday, while appearing on The Jeremy and Joe Show on WGR, Beane acknowledged that other teams have reached out about Coleman’s availability at different points over the last couple of months, but said the Bills made it clear they are not looking to move him, and did not field any calls on him during the draft.
“We shut those down,” Beane said of any inquiries other teams had about Coleman between the scouting combine and owner’s meetings. “Our intention is for Keon to be here. So the word was out. So no calls this weekend.”
Coleman has been benched multiple times over his two-year NFL career for tardiness. Last year, he played in 13 games, catching 38 passes for 404 yards and a four touchdowns.
When Brady took over for Sean McDermott in January, he said he told Coleman that the best thing that ever happened to him was for Brady to be his head coach.
About a month later at the Combine, Beane reiterated their confidence and belief in Coleman, saying he had a tremendous training camp and start to last year, and believes he can do that again. But with that came the acknowledgement that it has to come with Coleman putting maturity issues behind him.
On Monday, Beane said Coleman, who turns 23 next month, "has been dialed in this offseason," and will have a clean slate to show he can do that.
“We've hit the reset button with him and hopefully the fanbase and everyone is behind him,” Beane said. “I think his best year is yet to come here in 2026."
