Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR 550) - The Buffalo Bills have exercised the fifth-year option for 2021 first-round draft pick Greg Rousseau, the team announced on Monday.
The defensive end will now be under contract for 2025 at a price tag of $13.387 million guaranteed, both in actual base salary and against the salary cap.
Rousseau had one year remaining on his current deal that will count $3.693 million against the salary cap in 2024.
By picking up his option, he's now locked up for two more seasons in Buffalo. It also buys time for the team to eventually sign him to a contract extension, and even reduce his 2025 cap hit.
Rousseau was selected 30th overall out of the University of Miami in the 2021 NFL Draft, and has totaled 17 sacks over his three-year pro career. This includes a five-sack campaign in 2023 and an eight-sack campaign the year before.
