Bills name captains for 2020 season

Josh Allen and Tremaine Edmunds are among the seven players named as captain

The Buffalo Bills have announced their seven team captains on Wednesday ahead of the 2020 season opener on Sunday against the New York Jets at Bills Stadium.

For a second consecutive season, quarterback Josh Allen and left tackle Dion Dawkins will serve as the two captains on the offensive side of the football.


Third-year linebacker Tremaine Edmunds returns as a captain on the defense, while defensive end Jerry Hughes will take over the second captaincy role from former Bills linebacker Lorenzo Alexander, who retired following the conclusion of the 2019 season. In addition, the Bills added an another captain on the defensive side of the ball this season with safety Jordan Poyer.

On special teams, long snapper Reid Ferguson retains his role as a captain, while return man Andre Roberts will wear a "C" on his chest after the release of kicker Stephen Hauschka earlier this offseason.
