Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR 550) - The Buffalo Bills have opened the 21-day practice window for defensive tackle DaQuan Jones. Jones injured his pectoral muscle back in Week 5 in London against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The practice window opening means the Bills now have 21 days to activate Jones to the 53-man roster. If they don’t do that, he will stay on Injured Reserve and be ineligible to return for the remainder of the season.
Head coach Sean McDermott said on Tuesday that he doesn’t expect Jones to play when the Bills visit the Los Angeles Chargers Saturday night.
Because that game is on Saturday, both teams had to submit their first injury reports of the week on Tuesday.
For the Bills, defensive tackle Jordan Phillips, who had wrist surgery Sunday night, was the only player who did not participate due to an injury. Defensive end Von Miller missed practice due to a family funeral, and is expected back with the team by Wednesday.
The Bills held a walk-thru on Tuesday, so their injury report was an estimate of what each player’s status would have been with a full practice.
For the Chargers, wide receiver Keenan Allen did not practice as he deals with a heel injury. Allen missed last week’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders.
